Learning to truly love yourself can feel like one of life’s greatest challenges. Many of us carry scars from past mistakes, negative words spoken over us, or comparisons that make us feel less than enough. In a world that constantly pressures us to measure up, self-love is not about pride or vanity—it is about seeing ourselves the way God sees us: fearfully and wonderfully made. Prayer for self-love invites us to release insecurities, silence self-doubt, and step into the identity God has already given us.

When we pray for self-love, we are asking God to renew our minds and hearts with His truth. It is an act of surrender, trusting Him to heal our broken self-image and restore us with confidence, peace, and joy. These prayers help us embrace kindness toward ourselves, celebrate the person God created us to be, and walk boldly in His purpose. With God’s love at the center, we learn that valuing ourselves is not selfish—it is honoring the One who made us.

23 Prayer For Self Love

1. Psalm 139:14

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” (KJV)

Lord, help me to see myself as You see me—fearfully and wonderfully made. Teach me to accept my flaws and strengths, knowing they are all part of Your marvelous design. Remove the lies that tell me I am not enough.

Father, fill me with gratitude for the body, mind, and spirit You have given me. Remind me that I am Your creation and worthy of love, including my own. Let self-love be rooted in honoring You.

2. Matthew 22:39

“And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (KJV)

Lord, show me that self-love is not selfish but essential to loving others well. Teach me to extend compassion and grace to myself just as I do to others. Heal the areas where I struggle with self-acceptance.

Father, help me embrace a love for myself that reflects Your heart. Let me value my worth and carry myself with confidence. May my self-love overflow into greater love for others.

3. Ephesians 2:10

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (KJV)

Lord, remind me that I am Your workmanship, designed with intention and purpose. Help me to love myself not for perfection, but because I am Your creation. Let me walk confidently in the good works You have set for me.

Father, keep me from comparing myself to others. Show me that my worth is found in You alone. Let my self-love be rooted in the truth that I am made for Your glory.

4. Romans 8:38-39

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come… shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (KJV)

Lord, remind me that nothing can separate me from Your love. When I struggle with self-doubt, let me rest in the security of Your unfailing love. Teach me to love myself with the same patience You show me.

Father, when I feel unworthy, remind me that I am loved beyond measure. Let this truth anchor my heart in peace. May my self-love mirror the love You pour over me daily.

5. Isaiah 43:4

“Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.” (KJV)

Lord, teach me to see myself as precious in Your sight. Help me honor the life You have given me by embracing love for who I am. Let me not belittle the value You place on me.

Father, keep me grounded in the truth of Your love. Replace feelings of worthlessness with confidence in my divine value. May my self-love bring glory to You.

6. Proverbs 19:8

“He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good.” (KJV)

Lord, grant me wisdom to love my own soul as You desire. Teach me that caring for myself is an act of obedience, not selfishness. Help me to nurture both body and spirit in wisdom.

Father, guide me in making choices that bring health and wholeness. Let me value the gift of life You’ve entrusted to me. May my self-love be filled with wisdom and understanding.

7. Jeremiah 31:3

“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (KJV)

Lord, remind me daily that I am loved with an everlasting love. Let this eternal truth give me the courage to embrace myself fully. Heal the wounds that make me doubt my worth.

Father, draw me closer with Your lovingkindness. Teach me to reflect that same kindness inward. Let my self-love be rooted in Your everlasting embrace.

8. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you… and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (KJV)

Lord, remind me that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. Teach me to care for myself as a reflection of honoring You. Let me love myself as one who has been bought with a price.

Father, give me strength to treat myself with respect and dignity. May my choices reflect love for the temple You created. Let my self-love glorify Your name.

9. Zephaniah 3:17

“The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” (KJV)

Lord, thank You for rejoicing over me with joy. Teach me to celebrate who I am in You. Let me rest in Your love and find strength in Your joy.

Father, silence the voices that speak against my worth. Replace them with the song of love You sing over me. May my self-love flow from the joy You take in me.

10. John 15:9

“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.” (KJV)

Lord, remind me that the love You give is the same love the Father gave You. Let me continue in that love by embracing it for myself. Free me from self-rejection and criticism.

Father, teach me to live daily in the reality of Your love. May I embrace self-love as a reflection of abiding in You. Let Your love shape how I see myself.

11. 1 John 3:1

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” (ESV)

Lord, thank You for calling me Your child. Help me to embrace the truth that I am deeply loved and chosen by You. Teach me to see myself as valuable and beloved, not through the world’s eyes, but through Yours.

Father, when I feel inadequate, remind me that being Your child is my greatest identity. Let this truth nurture self-love in me that is rooted in being part of Your family. May I carry myself with dignity as Your beloved child.

12. Romans 5:8

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (KJV)

Lord, remind me that Your love was given before I ever earned it. Teach me to love myself even in my imperfections, just as You chose to love me in my brokenness. Free me from the shame that keeps me from self-acceptance.

Father, help me to see self-love as a reflection of Your unconditional love. Let me remember that my worth is not based on performance but on Christ’s sacrifice. May my love for myself honor the gift of grace You’ve given me.

13. 2 Timothy 1:7

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (KJV)

Lord, deliver me from fear and insecurity that rob me of self-love. Fill me instead with power, love, and a sound mind. Help me to walk confidently in the truth of who I am in You.

Father, teach me to speak kindly to myself. Replace self-criticism with words of encouragement that reflect Your heart. May my self-love be an act of faith, living out the spirit You’ve given me.

14. Song of Solomon 4:7

“Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.” (KJV)

Lord, help me to see myself as beautiful and worthy, not through the world’s lens but through Yours. Teach me to embrace both my inner and outer self with gratitude. Silence the lies that tell me I am unlovable.

Father, let me rest in the truth that You find joy in me. Teach me to honor myself as part of Your creation. May my self-love be filled with appreciation for the beauty You placed within me.

15. Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (KJV)

Lord, remind me that I am not weak but empowered through Christ. Help me to love myself by recognizing the strength You give me each day. Free me from self-doubt and fear of failure.

Father, let me walk boldly in my calling, knowing that You strengthen me for every task. Teach me to honor myself by trusting in Your power. May my self-love grow deeper as I rely on You.

16. Isaiah 41:10

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (KJV)

Lord, when I feel weak and unworthy, remind me that You are with me. Help me to love myself with the confidence that comes from knowing You uphold me. Let fear not diminish the way I value myself.

Father, strengthen me in moments of self-doubt. Teach me to embrace my worth because You never leave me. May my self-love be rooted in the assurance that I am upheld by Your righteous hand.

17. Lamentations 3:22-23

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” (KJV)

Lord, thank You for mercies that are new every morning. Help me to wake each day with a fresh perspective on self-love. Remind me that I do not have to carry yesterday’s failures into today.

18. 1 Peter 2:9

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” (KJV)

Father, teach me to value my identity in You above all else. May self-love grow as I embrace my calling as part of Your holy people. Let me live each day with the confidence of one chosen by You.

19. Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” (KJV)

Father, let my self-love be clothed in humility and patience. May I treat myself with gentleness, knowing You have chosen me. Let my heart reflect mercy that begins within.

22. John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJV)

Lord, thank You for the greatest act of love through Jesus Christ. Teach me to accept this gift as proof of my worth. Help me to love myself as one for whom Christ died.

Father, let me never doubt my value when I remember the cross. May self-love grow out of the realization that I am worth saving. Let this truth transform the way I see myself.

23. Galatians 2:20

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (KJV)

Lord, thank You for living within me. Teach me to love myself as one who carries Christ’s presence daily. Remind me that I am worthy of love because You gave Yourself for me.

Father, help me live each day with self-respect rooted in faith. May I embrace self-love not in pride, but in the humility of knowing Christ lives in me. Let this truth shape every thought and action.

Conclusion

Prayer for self-love is a meaningful way to invite God’s truth and grace into how we see ourselves. It asks Him to replace doubt and insecurity with confidence, peace, and acceptance rooted in His unconditional love. Through prayer, we learn to value ourselves as His creation, worthy of kindness, patience, and compassion.

By lifting self-love in prayer, we open our hearts to healing and renewal. God’s presence reminds us that we are never alone and that our worth is not defined by the world but by His love. With Him, we can embrace ourselves fully and live with confidence.
