Weariness is more than physical tiredness—it’s the exhaustion that seeps deep into the soul. It’s when your spirit feels heavy, your prayers feel unanswered, and even hope seems too far to reach. But God sees the weary. He knows every sigh, every quiet tear, and every burden too heavy to carry alone. His Word assures us that He gives strength to the faint and rest to the restless.

This prayer for the weary is for those who are emotionally drained, spiritually tired, or physically exhausted. It’s an invitation to lay everything at God’s feet and find renewal in His presence. Through these verses, may you rediscover peace, hope, and divine strength to keep going.

23 Prayer For The Weary

1. Matthew 11:28

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus offers the most beautiful invitation—to come and find rest in Him. When the world demands too much and strength runs out, His arms remain open, ready to give comfort that restores both body and soul.

Lord, I come before You weary and worn. Take the weight I’ve carried too long and give me the rest You promised. Help me to find peace in Your presence and strength in Your love.

2. Isaiah 40:29–31

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”

God renews those who feel drained. Like an eagle regaining its wings, He lifts the weary to soar again. His power is made perfect not in our strength, but in our surrender.

Lord, I need Your renewing power today. When I feel faint, remind me that Your strength never runs dry. Lift me on wings of faith and restore my energy to walk the path before me.

3. Psalm 23:1–3

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul.”

God doesn’t just offer rest—He leads us to it. His care provides peace in chaos, nourishment in drought, and calm where fear once lived. The weary heart finds restoration in His gentle guidance.

Lord, lead me to still waters where my soul can breathe again. Quiet the noise around me and restore the peace I’ve lost. Let Your presence refresh me from the inside out.

4. Galatians 6:9

“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Weariness often visits when progress seems slow and rewards feel distant. But God reminds us that every act of faithfulness is seen, and every effort will bear fruit in His time.

Lord, help me not to give up when I grow tired. Remind me that You are working behind the scenes even when I can’t see it. Strengthen me to keep going until Your promises unfold.

5. Psalm 61:2

“When my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

In moments of exhaustion and confusion, God becomes our stability. When everything feels like too much, He lifts us higher—away from chaos and into His unshakable presence.

Lord, when my heart feels overwhelmed, lift me above my worries. Be my rock and my refuge when strength fails. Remind me that You are greater than every storm I face.

6. 2 Corinthians 12:9

“My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”

God doesn’t always remove our burdens—but He fills our weakness with His strength. Grace sustains us when effort fails and proves that His power is greater than our exhaustion.

Lord, let Your grace carry me when I can’t carry myself. Fill my weakness with Your strength and help me to rest in Your sufficiency. Teach me to lean on You completely.

7. Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”

God draws near to the weary and brokenhearted. His closeness is comfort, and His compassion heals the soul’s fatigue. When the world turns cold, His presence remains tender and sure.

Lord, thank You for being close when I feel worn and fragile. Heal the places in me that are hurting. Fill my weary heart with Your nearness and restore my faith in Your goodness.

8. Hebrews 12:3

“For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

When we remember Christ’s endurance, we gain strength for our own struggles. He faced rejection, pain, and loneliness, yet persevered in love. His example renews courage for weary souls.

Lord Jesus, help me to look to You when I feel weary. Remind me that You endured far more out of love for me. Strengthen my heart to endure and keep walking in faith.

9. Psalm 46:1–2

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear.”

Even in exhaustion, God remains our immediate help. He offers strength in the moment, not just for tomorrow. His presence is the calm that anchors us when the storms rage loud.

Lord, be my refuge when I’m tired and afraid. Let Your strength sustain me when I have none left. I rest in the truth that You are with me right now, in this very moment.

10. Matthew 26:41

“The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

Even Jesus acknowledged the frailty of human strength. He understands our fatigue and meets us in it—not with condemnation, but with compassion and understanding.

Lord, You know how tired I am. Help me to find balance between work and rest. Renew my spirit and strengthen my body so I can keep walking faithfully in Your will.

11. Psalm 91:1

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Rest for the weary begins in God’s presence. When we dwell with Him, we find peace that the world can’t provide. His shadow becomes a place of safety, renewal, and protection.

Lord, hide me in the shadow of Your presence when I feel spent. Let me find rest and renewal under Your wings. Fill me with peace that surpasses all understanding.

12. Jeremiah 31:25

“For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.”

God promises not only rest, but replenishment. He doesn’t just take away exhaustion—He fills us with new joy, strength, and purpose. His restoration is complete and overflowing.

Lord, I ask You to replenish my weary soul. Replace my fatigue with joy and my sorrow with hope. Fill me again until I overflow with Your goodness.

13. Psalm 55:22

“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.”

We were never meant to carry everything alone. God invites us to release the load, trusting that His hands are strong enough to hold it all. Surrender is where true rest begins.

Lord, I cast my burdens on You today—every fear, worry, and exhaustion. Sustain me with Your love and let me rest in Your care. Remind me that I am safe in Your hands.

14. Isaiah 41:10

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.”

God’s presence turns weariness into courage. He strengthens us with His assurance that we’re not alone. His comfort gives us the boldness to rise again, even when we feel drained.

Lord, thank You for being with me in every moment of exhaustion. Drive away fear and fill me with courage. Help me to rise again, knowing You are by my side.

15. Psalm 126:5

“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.”

Weariness often accompanies seasons of hardship, but God promises that tears will not be wasted. Every moment of endurance will produce a harvest of joy and strength in due time.

Lord, I give You every tear I’ve shed in weariness. Turn my sorrow into joy and my fatigue into testimony. Let this season of struggle bring forth lasting fruit in my life.

16. Deuteronomy 33:27

“The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”

When we are too tired to stand, God carries us. His everlasting arms are a foundation that never gives way, holding us up when our strength is gone.

Lord, hold me in Your everlasting arms when I can’t stand anymore. Let Your strength be my support and Your love my rest. Help me to trust that You will never let me fall.

17. Psalm 62:1–2

“Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.”

Rest comes through stillness before God. When we stop striving and wait on Him, He restores our energy and fills our hearts with renewed hope.

Lord, quiet my heart before You. Teach me to rest in Your salvation instead of trying to do everything on my own. Renew my spirit as I wait in Your presence.

18. Lamentations 3:22–23

“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed… they are new every morning.”

Even in our most weary seasons, God’s mercy meets us afresh each day. His compassion refills our strength and reminds us that each sunrise brings new hope.

Lord, thank You for Your mercy that meets me every morning. Help me to start each day with renewed faith and fresh strength. Let Your love refresh me when I feel worn out.

19. Philippians 4:13

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

In our exhaustion, this verse becomes our anthem. Christ Himself becomes our energy, renewing us from within and empowering us to continue when we would otherwise give up.

Lord, fill me with Your strength today. When my energy fades, let Your power sustain me. Remind me that I can endure and overcome all things through You.

20. Psalm 18:28

“For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.”

God brings light to weary souls walking through dark seasons. His illumination dispels despair and renews hope, reminding us that even the night has purpose.

Lord, light the candle of my heart again. Let Your presence chase away the darkness of weariness and fill me with renewed hope. Help me to see that You are still at work in my life.

21. Isaiah 58:11

“And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones.”

God doesn’t just give momentary strength—He sustains. Even in dry seasons, His Spirit nourishes and restores life to what felt barren.

Lord, guide me continually when I feel lost in exhaustion. Satisfy my soul in this dry place and make me fruitful again. Let Your living water flow through me and renew my spirit.

22. Psalm 4:8

“I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”

Rest is holy when it’s rooted in trust. God grants sleep to those who surrender their worries to Him. In His safety, we can truly rest without fear.

Lord, as I lay down tonight, let Your peace surround me. Take my worries and give me deep, healing rest. Let me awaken refreshed, knowing You have watched over me.

23. Romans 8:37

“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Even in weariness, victory is assured. We are not defined by exhaustion but by the power of Christ’s love that enables us to rise again stronger than before.

Lord, thank You for making me more than a conqueror. Even in my weakness, Your love gives me victory. Help me to face each day with courage, knowing I am sustained by You.

Conclusion

Weariness does not mean failure—it’s a sign that you’ve been fighting hard. But you are not alone in the battle. God’s strength is infinite, His rest is available, and His arms are open.

May these scriptures remind you that the Lord renews those who wait on Him. In His timing, your tiredness will give way to strength, your tears to joy, and your heaviness to peace. Rest now in the One who never grows weary, and let His presence restore your soul.
